Do You Work Out?
I went to parenting.com and the first article in big 26-point letters read, “Easy Exercises for Moms: Simple Workout Moves to Fit into Your Day.” I thought, “Yeah right, how can I fit that into my day? I am happy when remember to feed Ace and wash our underwear.”
I have every intention of going to the gym in the mornings, but something always comes up. I don’t make it a priority. I keep procrastinating on my big schedule change to fit it in. My gym has child care from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and then again in the evenings. So if I don’t high tail it to the gym by 11:00 a.m. I don’t make it. Sometimes I call my friend and we will walk for about 45 minutes at the park in the afternoon, but it isn’t a regular routine. I need to make a change. I was disciplined when I was pregnant and for a few weeks after, but it is time to get off my butt and just do it again.
Do any of you workout? When do you go? What type of work out do you do?
In December Kristi wrote a great post for us titled “How To Get the Most From Your Workout.”

I have a gym membership and LOVE classes. My favorite is the barbell strength training class. The childcare hours are really difficult for me to work around. My days are so busy regardless that there really isn’t a good time to go to the gym unless I wake up earlier, and that’s just not happening!! Recently I’ve started running again. I run either on the weekends or when my husband gets home from work. It’s really hard for me to find a time to work out.
I can’t do the gym thing right now, but I am incorporating running into my weekly schedule now. I have a friend who holds me accountable and I got my husband to support me in watching the kids while I do the work. No excuses anymore.
it is definitely tough to do when you have small kids, but it can be done! I try to squeeze in lunges, squats, running the stairs, and push ups whenever possible. I also have a treadmill, so at nap time I jump on that for a quick workout. I write all about it on my blog, so please stop by to visit!
My problem is we’re leaving soon, so I’m like, “why bother? I’m just going to have to start over.” A bad excuse I know. I should go back to doing pilates, which I really like. It just seems like we’re so busy getting ready to move that I really don’t have any time.
I have a dvd, where you can choose a 10 min. workout and I usually target my tummy. Little Bean tries to do the sit-ups with me, but after 5-6 mins she ends up laying across my chest adding a higher level of resistance . She also does pretty well with simple yoga (since a lot of those moves were pattern after babies). If I am lucky she will do downward dog for a good 10 mins.
When my children were small, I used to walk up and down the stairs, every chance I could. 5 minutes here, 10 minutes, there. You’d be surprised at how fast it adds up…………………..:)
