It’s coming! It’s coming! The most romantic day of the year! You know? Valentine’s Day? The time of year when the greens and reds of Christmas are yanked off the shelf, thrown in a cart marked 75% off, only to welcome the pinks, whites, and more reds, celebrating all that is Cupid? Of course you do!

Now if you’re married, in a committed relationship, or just plain dating, the romantic notion of dining out in a fancy restaurant, receiving the well-written Hallmark card, box of chocolate or delicate roses is quite possibly the way to your heart. Never mind the fact that the wait times to eat are approximately 2 hours and the last minute card he picked up simply reads, “Love, Tom” inside. Or that the chocolate just destroyed your New Year’s Resolution diet and those flowers…..just..…die. Still, it’s the thought that counts. So what then is it going to be like for the single woman you say?

How about pure, “independently owned and operated” pleasure?! Call the babysitter ladies (aka 1-800-GRA-NDMA) because this day can still be ALL ABOUT YOU! We’ve all heard the saying, “You can’t really love someone else, until you truly love yourself.” As women, how often does that self-love get pushed to the back burner? You’ve either got a FT/PT job outside of the home, are raising your children inside the home, plus there’s errands and cleaning to be done. I mean when did you truly last pamper and spoil yourself?

Make this Valentine’s Day unique. Grab a new pair of panties at your neighborhood retail store (just to feel vibrant again), indulge in an elaborate lunch (to awaken your taste buds), walk on the beach (regaining that inner peace), ride your bike (to feel the wind in your hair), or soak in a bubble bath with a glass of red wine and a good book (escaping to tranquility). In this fast paced world, we all need to stop, take a deep breath, and just take care of ourselves. Just because it’s a day set aside for romantic love, doesn’t mean that romance and love has to be shared between two people.
